Vivi – Wireless Display System

The Vivi Wireless Display system was built from the ground up for use in classrooms and school environments. It provides a more reliable and stable streaming experience that works with any type of device.

The Vivi App should already be installed on your GNS Macbook. You can also install the Vivi App on your mobile device (Apple or Android) and any iPad or tablet.

The app will provide your best streaming experience but you can also access Vivi through a web-based interface.

For ease of access, consider pinning the VIVI app to your MacBook dock (toolbar) by right-clicking on the app icon when it’s running.

  • On your school MacBook, you should find Vivi in your Applications folder. If it’s not there, open the Mosyle Manager app, search for “Vivi”, and install it. Once installed, you might consider adding it to your Dock for easy access.
  • On a personal iPhone/iPad, Android, or Windows device, please install the Vivi app (https://get.vivi.io/) for best results – GNS iPads should already have the Vivi app installed. 
  • School Chromebooks should already have the Vivi app installed.
  • In a pinch, you can connect to Vivi in any web browser (https://app.vivi.io/), however streaming performance is not as good as the app.

You’ll need to log in with your school email address and password – using two-factor authentication – and then approve Bluetooth (this allows your device to find nearby Vivis, since we have a list of 84, which can be overwhelming). Once you’re logged-in, you shouldn’t be asked to log in again on the same device.

The very first time you share your screen, you’ll also need to approve Microphone use (and Screen Recording on your MacBook). After this has been done the first time, you shouldn’t need to re-approve access.

If your projector/TV is interactive – using your finger or a pen – this should have been already set up to work wirelessly. Please let Tech Services know if it’s not working.

How to Extend Your Display With Vivi

You can extend your display and use the Vivi as an “additional screen”.

This way you can have something different on your laptop as opposed to your projector display.

To do this you need to enable this feature within the Vivi App.

  1. From the Vivi Home Screen, click the “Gear Icon” in the top right corner.

2. Select the “Preferences” tab and then check “Enable Extended Desktop”

Note: The default setting is for the Vivi screen to appear to the right of your laptop screen
